Book Blogger Hop #5

I have been crazy busy and haven't hopped since November!!
And, boy have I missed it!!!

The hop is hosted by Jennifer at Crazy for Books each and every Friday :)

Thanks, Jennifer!!

In the spirit of the Twitter Friday Follow, the Book Blogger Hop is a place just for book bloggers and readers to connect and share our love of the written word! This weekly BOOK PARTY is an awesome opportunity for book bloggers to connect with other book lovers, make new friends, support each other, and generally just share our love of books! It will also give blog readers a chance to find other book blogs to read!

This week's question:

"What do you consider most important in a story, the plot or the characters?"

My answer:

Wow! This question reminds me of the whole "Which comes first, the chicken or the egg?" discussion :)
Even the greatest plot with numb or unbelievable characters would not hold my attention...
On the other hand, I'm not sure even the characters I care about the most would make a good story unless a seamless plot held them all together?
I promise I'm not trying to NOT answer this question :)

I'm gonna go out on a limb here and say the characters are more important...to me.
I'm a series reader...I miss the characters while I'm waiting on the next installment.
I actually don't really care what the next plot will be.
I just want my friends back.

In a book in which I don't know my characters yet, I'm not sure which would be more important...although I expect a healthy dose of plot + unforgettable characters = success = a good read.

Characters are what I care about most.

Yay!! Now it's time to go spend hours and hours reading other book bloggers' answers!!

C'mon, let's go!!

  1. My answer was also characters. I have to care about the people or it doesn't matter what they are doing. Happy hopping!

  2. Visiting from the hop. I love your blog name. I said 50/50 on plot and characters but my mood plays into it too. Go figure. LOL

  3. It's characters for me as well, especially in a series like you said, I just want to be with them again, I don't care what they're doing! Thanks for stopping by my blog, I hope you have a great weekend!

  4. I prefer plot. I've read a lot of classics with dispicable classics, say like "Crime and Punishment". I think it's the point. You can't always read books with positive characters

  5. Now following you :)

I like an equal balance, but I do agree with you. Characters are really important, and usually who we remember once the book is finished.
