This morning began like any other Saturday morning...sleeping a little later, waking up one at a time, adding family members to our king sized bed :)
After breakfast, however, the youngest just kinda collapsed on the couch.
Since she moves at about 115 mph all of the time it seems, I knew something was up.
Layla also knew something was up and became very concerned.
Can you see her worried German Shepherd eyes?
Sure enough the youngest was running a temp...which has climbed throughout the morning. Oy.
Layla need to touch the youngest and volunteered to keep her feet warm.
These are certainly not the best photos...taken with my Blackberry so as not to disturb a much needed nap for the youngest...but they're good enough for me.
How can anyone not love dogs?
Saturday Snapshot is hosted by Alyce @ At Home with Books.

I always think it is amazing that animals have a built in sixth sense, which lets them know when someone is ill, whereas we humans are just insensitive to the vibes given off by others.
ReplyDeleteWe call them 'man's best friend' and they certainly beat the human variety well into second place.
Hope that your daughter will be well on the way to making a full recovery soon.
Yvonne
Those are really cute! Doggie love is a great thing when you're sick.
ReplyDeleteI grew up with dogs and miss having their doggie love around. They are such loyal and loving animals. I hope youngest gets to feeling better.
ReplyDeleteDogs are amazing! It's so comforting to have them snuggle with you when you're not feeling well!
ReplyDeleteHope she feels better soon!
Animals are so sensitive to when their owners are ill or feeling a bit blue. My cat always cuddles either me or the hubby when we are under the weather. Pets are great :)
ReplyDeleteThat is so sweet and touching! I hope she feels better soon!
ReplyDeletePets are members of our family. Last night my dog and I were plying and having such a good time. I haven't laughed that hard for a long time.
ReplyDeleteHow precious. Yes, I do think that dogs have a sixth sense about their loved ones. Hope your girlie will be feeling better soon. Fever is miserable.
ReplyDeleteIsn't it funny how dogs know when you don't feel well. I can remember our dog standing vigil when our son was sick growing up. Layla is a sweetheart!
ReplyDeleteOMG, what a loyal companion. Hope she is feeling better.
ReplyDeleteI love it when my pup senses that one of us is not well. So loyal and loving. Looks like Layla is really worried in those pics! Hope your daughter is okay. Maybe if she rests, she'll beat whatever bug she picked up.
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness, sorry your daughter is not feeling well, but I love the dog's reaction.
ReplyDeleteOh, that makes my heart smile. I have a loving doggie, too. They add so much to our lives. Hope your little one is feeling better.
ReplyDeleteWhat a good nurse!
ReplyDeleteLayla sure is a good nurse! She is a sweetie! Hope your daughter feels better soon!
ReplyDeleteThat has got to be the sweetest thing I've ever seen...
ReplyDeleteEverybody thinks GSD's are so scary...ours is the best friend in the world :)
ReplyDeleteOurs is so loyal that she hasn't left my youngest's side all day...except when I made her walk with me.
ReplyDeleteWhen I have taken my youngest's temp throughout the day, Layla has tried to help by licking her cheek ;/ Giggling is not conducive to keeping a thermometer under your tongue, unfortunately.
ReplyDeleteLayla realized Reagan was sick before I did...my Uh-Oh who is the cat pictured in my header will cuddle with my daughter if she cries or is upset about something...and he's not a cuddler with most people.
ReplyDeleteI like Layla better than I like some of the people I know...she's much more honest and forthright.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Alyce...it helps my feelings too, to know that Layla watches out for my girls.
ReplyDeleteMiserable is a good word for how she's felt...I think it's strep...we'll head to one of our clinics tomorrow for a diagnosis.
ReplyDeleteDoggie love is a great thing even when you're not sick :)
ReplyDeleteEXACTLY! and Thanks!
ReplyDeleteSome folks are are actually scared of Layla when they see her out walking with me :/ She's got a German Shepherd look and bark, but after that, she's just a loyal and protective friend.
ReplyDeleteMy heart is smiling too!!
ReplyDeleteShe has been so serious all day about taking care of things... :) She's such a good dog.
ReplyDeleteA German Shepherd's eyes are truly the window to its soul...she melts me every single day with those eyes...she loves her Reagan :)
ReplyDeleteLoyal companion is a perfect description of our Layla :)
ReplyDeleteaww, sorry your youngest is sick (my kiddos were sick today too) but I absolutely love the protective pets. So sweet Book Savvy Babe
ReplyDeleteOh that's just adorable, lovely to have such a protective nursemaid.
ReplyDeleteThat is so sweet. Dogs have great instincts. Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeletecarol
Absolutely fantastic photos. I have 3 dogs and each has its own special way of giving comfort when comfort is needed. I can't imagine my life without dogs. Your German shepherd is lovely and I hope your daughter gets well asap!
ReplyDeleteLayla is very sweet...but yes, very protective at the same time. We're headed to the dr. this a.m...I think strep is our culprit :(
ReplyDeleteThe word "nursemaid" reminds me of the dog Nana in Peter Pan :):) And, yes, that is Layla...complete with apron and nightcap :)
ReplyDeleteCarol, what I love about dogs is how they have those instincts...and then they follow them...humans not so much :)
ReplyDeleteLayla is beautiful and sounds like a sweet dog. I hope your little one is feeling better soon.
ReplyDeleteAnnie, we have 3 as well...and 3 cats, and a hamster...needless to say, we have quite a menagerie!! They all definitely have their own personalities!! They take care of us as much as we take care of them.
ReplyDeleteOh … that is so sweet that she is caring for her like that!!! I hope your daughter feels better soon. I'm sure she will with such tender loving care!
ReplyDeleteThat's just precious.
ReplyDeleteThanks so much! She finally went back to school today (Wednesday)
ReplyDeleteI think Layla just didn't know what to do with Reagan down and out...Layla's used to running with her packmate ;)
ReplyDeleteOur Layla is one of a kind :)
