Squeaky Thomas, as we call her, doesn't like to be held. She wants no affection and will growl in a heartbeat if anyone in our family breaks her rules.
She is just about as aloof as a cat can be.
We are part of her life simply to make sure she gets catfood every day. And, we'd better remember our place...or else. ;)
However, as you can see in the photo above, Squeaky Thomas will snuggle...as long as we're asleep and don't know it.
:/
'splain that to me.
Her least favorite person in our household is my youngest daughter...but that is the person she sneakily snuggles with the most.
Cats.
Ya gotta love the mystery :)
Snapshot Saturday is hosted by Alyce @ At Home with Books
I guess she likes to hide her love of affection. Cute photo!
ReplyDeleteShe was a rescue and has always been somewhat mysterious. She wouldn't come to me when I tried to get her from where she'd been abandoned, but the next morning she was in my backyard crying. She was just a teeny baby then. She's had a mind of her own since the beginning :)
DeleteCats must be in charge. My Sherpa will not allow us to pick him up and put on our laps. If we do he jumps down. But he will then jump right back up and settle in. It has to be HIS decision.
ReplyDeleteSilly creatures. Each of my four has a unique personality. That photo is priceless. Maybe you can use it to blackmail the cat.
She was actually snuggled in bed with us this morning when we woke up. My GSD Layla was about to have a heart attack about the intrusion, which is probably the only reason I woke up in time to see Squeaky Thomas ;) They do need to be in charge...it's one of the many things I've always loved about cats.
DeleteCats are mysterious. I love that about them. Thanks for the little story of your cat.
ReplyDeleteThe mystery is one of my favorite things too, Deb :)
DeleteI have had cats like that! Very aloof and hiding their need. Thanks for sharing...and for visiting my blog.
ReplyDeleteI also have one (the cat in my header) who will climb right up onto my laptop when he's ready to snuggle...he doesn't care what's going on or who's looking :)
DeleteLOL, gotta love cats :) Book Savvy Babe
ReplyDeleteI have for as long as I can remember :)
DeleteOnly wants to show affection when she wants to. It just happens to be when everyone else is sleeping. :-)
ReplyDeleteHere's my Snapshot.
I think she doesn't want to admit she wants affection ;) You know, tough girl adopted off the streets and all ;)
DeleteThat is too cute! We have a cat that doesn't like to be held either. Such a sweet photo.
ReplyDeleteWith cats, you have no control over what you're going to get. At least with a dog, you can train them to a certain extent. Cats laugh in the face of suggested training ;)
DeleteThat is such a sweet photo. In my experience cats are very independent, and only do what they want, when they want! My Snapshot is at http://goo.gl/CQuKI
ReplyDeleteThat's my experience too, Christine :)
DeleteHow funny is that! Cats are mysterious creatures, aren't they? You wouldn't know it from that photo tho' ;)
ReplyDeleteI know! It was almost as if Sneaky Thomas had dug herself down into the covers :) She's a mess :)
DeleteOur cats are pretty social, but I've know plenty who want to be left alone. They're the ultimate "on my terms" relationship guides. Here's Mine
ReplyDeleteYep :) They are masters of the "on my terms" relationships for sure :)
DeleteFab photo. My cats like to sneak in with anyone who is warm. They like my husband best, I think because once he's asleep he doesn't move much.
ReplyDeleteI wondered if it had to do with warmth. I'd like to think they love us that much, but I know nature has a way of taking care of itself. That makes sense :)
DeleteSweet that you captured it in a photo! Cats can be so ornery sometimes. :)
ReplyDeleteI'm glad too, Alyce. Most of the time I don't, but I had stayed up late that night and had given the youngest permission to stay up with me as long as she fell asleep on the couch. I found Squeaky Thomas with her when I got up to take the youngest to bed. Grabbed my camera before I disturbed them :)
DeleteVery sweet picture! I've found that (most) cats like to be in charge--of everything!!
ReplyDeleteVery True! :)
DeleteOrdinary Words...at least you have proof she's a part of your family♫♪ Happy weekend♥
ReplyDeleteCats are a mystery and that is a "quirky cat" you have for sure. We have one cat, Lily, who HATES to be held, but is a total love and lap cat --just DON'T try and pick her up:)
ReplyDeletequirky is a perfect word! All 3 of our cats are individuals and each has his/her own weirdness :p
DeleteNice pic. I'll take cats any day over dogs! Thanks for stopping by my post earlier.
ReplyDeleteI like both...but for very individual reasons :)
DeleteCats ... you gotta love 'em! They do take life on their own terms, don't they?
ReplyDeletePossibly, Susan, we should learn from them? :)
DeleteI've never met a cat that I could explain. The minute you have them figured out they do something completely unexpected.
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely, Leslie! :) It's part of their charm, I think. Cats definitely keep us on our toes :)
DeleteThey definitely think they're superior.
ReplyDeleteThey do have that look on their faces at times, don't they? ;)
DeleteThat is the mystery of cats. I personally think they just don't want us to realize how much they like us.
ReplyDeleteI'm with you, Jenners...they play it "cool" in the relationship, masking their true feelings to keep us interested ;)
DeleteLOL, I love this! So true of cats. Persnickety little buggers.
ReplyDeleteNo doubt! It's why we love them so much though! :)
