Remember turning the pages, feeling the roughness or smoothness of the paper? Remember the colorful pictures or dramatic black and white drawings?
Well, I do. To this day I can remember some of my most important books. Could I say that about an e-book? How does it feel? Is it special? Is each book in an e-book mine and can I keep it to display on my book shelf? I cannot imagine my life without REAL books.Zitronehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08706863522408321375noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6008560569188093094.post-56976461493200623922010-09-22T12:15:11.148-05:002010-09-22T12:15:11.148-05:00I have mixed feelings about the whole eBook revolu...I have mixed feelings about the whole eBook revolution. The instant gratification thing rocks but....
I love reading books but unlike Hubs don't feel the need to OWN every book ever written because really!, who has room to store them all and keep the dust mites at bay...lol So libraries not only supply my voracious appetite but keep my house from swallowing us up. And there is something special about the ritual of getting your own library card. It's one of the many milestones worth celebrating in the course of one's life. Later on, who's college career would be complete without those hours spent in "the stacks"? Sipping lattes while doing research off a Kindle just isn't the same.lol

When my kids were young they each enjoyed having their own small library in their rooms. I think it's very important for kids to have their own books as well as to utilize public libraries.

I just read that this generation is going to be the 1st in US history that is less literate than the one that came before. That makes me sad on so many levels and it's really bad news for our nation.

Ok...just using your post as an excuse to blather now.... ;-)slugmamahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12728856166374248591noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6008560569188093094.post-48919155024156418772010-09-12T20:11:03.880-05:002010-09-12T20:11:03.880-05:00that Ping Pong Pig looks adorable!that Ping Pong Pig looks adorable!Betsy Brockhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06807795605763246015noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6008560569188093094.post-41238540789655307552010-09-12T18:24:33.180-05:002010-09-12T18:24:33.180-05:00I am so torn about the ebook thing myself. The other part of me wonders how it would be to read a whole book on a screen. I love books too. Just looking at the photos of the books you two received made me want to go to the library. I vow to visit the library in our new town this week. Thanks for the reminder!!Paulahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07196257750016200916noreply@blogger.com
