I might have mentioned a time or two that Thanksgiving is one of my favorite days of the year. I actually enjoy the entire 9 days off...the days leading up to the big meal and the quiet days after.
My oldest daughter is in charge of decorating our mantle
We clean house from top to bottom since we host the annual family celebration
Even Layla gets in on the action ;)
My youngest is in charge of decorating the piano
And my middle daughter is famous for her Butterfinger Pies
No idea where she gets the taking pictures of your food idea :/
Our new recipe for last year was one called Green Bean Bundles...it was a hit so the recipe automatically earned its place on this year's menu...my youngest helped wrap the beans in bacon and spear each roll with toothpicks
She's a "Wicked" good cook by the way ;)
Snapshot Saturday is hosted by Alyce over @ At Home with Books.
We don't have Thanksgiving here and I've wondered - does Thanksgiving kind of take the thunder away from Christmas?
ReplyDeleteLooks like you had a wonderful, and beautifully decorated, Thanksgiving. Enjoy the rest of your days off!
ReplyDeleteFun pictures! I love Layla's ears!!!
ReplyDeleteI love these pictures! It must be nice to have everyone in the house, doing homey things. You have beautiful girls.
ReplyDeleteI really loved the pictures. All your daughters are SO involved!
ReplyDeleteHere is my Saturday Snapshot post!
Oh man . . . I want to get in on some of that Butterfinger Pie! The decorations look lovely, too. They did a great job :)
ReplyDeleteGreat pictures! I'll take some Butterfinger Pie, too, I remember you mentioning that before on another post, sounds delish!
ReplyDeleteSam, Actually, Thanksgiving almost gets swept under the rug in my opinion. Most of the stores have had Christmas decorations up since October. I love Thanksgiving...to me it's family time without all the chaotic present giving etc. (which has also gotten out of hand if you ask me)
ReplyDeleteLisa, Thanks! The decorations mean so much more to me bc my daughters are in charge! :)
Rhapsody Jill, Layla gets a lot of comments about her ears ;) they are just as large as they look!
Sandy, having everyone here doing things with me is my idea of perfect. They are special girls indeed!! Thank-you!
Gautami Tripathy, they love Thanksgiving as much as I do :)
Trish and Natalie, there is never any Butterfinger Pie left over :) She found the recipe a couple of years ago and asked if she could make it :)
The decorations look beautiful, especially on the piano! My mom decorates specially for Thanksgiving, too. She even has a special set of dishes she uses in October and November.
ReplyDeleteLove the photos of the family getting ready for Thanksgiving! I need to see about making that Butterfinger pie sometime! Thanks for sharing this great post with us!
ReplyDeleteGreat shots, and what a great idea spotlighting the preparatory moments!
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing....
Here's MY SATURDAY SNAPSHOT and
MY WEBSITE
It's great to see everyone getting involved in the preparations! Great photos
ReplyDeleteIt is nice that your girls are involved in the getting ready for Thanksgiving. I love the decorations! I would be thankful for Butterfinger pie! That sounds really good!
ReplyDeleteLooks like you are having a terrific day. Love the photo with your dog :)
ReplyDeleteI love that your whole family gets in on the action since that's what Thanksgiving is about.
ReplyDeleteThose are lovely photos of fun holiday traditions! We usually travel to relatives' houses for Thanksgiving and stay home for Christmas, so I'm excited to get started on the decorating at our house now. And as for those bean rolls - everything is better with bacon! :)
ReplyDeleteBusy family preparing for the big day! Love it!
ReplyDeleteI love that the entire family contributes - what fun memories!
ReplyDeleteI love how everyone has their own spot to decorate! That's a great idea.
ReplyDeleteHere's my snapshot.
Send the girls to decorate and bake for me? Please? Incidentally, my dog is named Lailah.
ReplyDelete:)
Nice decorations. Your daughters do a wonderful job.
ReplyDeleteWonderful that they all like to participate, I'd love the recipe for Butterfinger pie.

ReplyDeleteHere's my Snapshot: http://myreadersblock.blogspot.com/2011/11/saturday-snapshot-november-26.html
Thanksgiving is one of my favorite holidays too. None of the Christmas rush, just a nice day to relax and eat. I could use some of your helpers! Looks like they really get into the preparations.
ReplyDelete:) love the story being told in the photos.. of a wonderful family enjoying a wonderful holiday together
ReplyDeleteI love it when the kids help. My daughter makes her famous Marshmallow Salad. It was Ambrosia but when you see how many marshmallows she includes, you begin to see why we call it Marshmallow Salad.
ReplyDeleteNew dish this year was Gluten Free, Caramelized Corn Bread stuffing. It's a Tyler Florence recipe that I doctored up. I used GF cornbread and added toasted pecans and shhhh (bacon fat, just a tad!) and it was delish!
