Saturday Snapshot - Strawberries :)

Saturday Snapshot is hosted by Alyce @ At Home with Books

My youngest picked these plants from the co-op last Spring
and was so disappointed that they never made.
As we're getting ready to prepare our garden for this year we happened to notice that our 1 little strawberry plant had increased itself to 10 little strawberry plants!!!!  All of them have some little buds, flowers and even the beginnings of little strawberries!! None have turned red yet, but there was enough progress to send my youngest over the moon!!
I'm sure everybody knows more about strawberries than I do, but the green in the middle of the flower is actually the beginnings of a strawberry!!!!!

  1. Now let's just hope that the birds don't get them before you do. That's what always happens here.

  2. Geez, I forgot about birds :( Wonder if I can put some netting of some kind over them??

  3. Oh, how exciting! It's a little early for the strawberries to ripen. You can put netting over the plants or hang something to make noise near them.

  4. What a wonderful surprise! A wind chime in the area might help with birds!

  6. That is so exciting! I've tried to grow strawberries before and they've always died. It looks like you're having far better luck!

  7. I'd love to grow my own strawberries. We eat them every morning with either oats or blueberries and nuts.

  10. Pretty little plant!

I have a big garden but I never tried strawberries because I feed the birds and they will think the strawberries are for them.

  11. That's fantastic. I'd love to grow strawberries, though it's not very feasible in the desert.
